BROW TINTING

WHAT IS EYEBROW TINTING?

Tinting is similar to dying your hair. We carefully select and mix a perfect tint for each client and develop the dye with peroxide before applying. We have multiple shades and two different tint brands to ensure we create the perfect shade. Our BlushArtist stay with you the entire time your tint is processing (1-5 minutes), watching the colour develop to be sure it does not become too dark. Our process involves removing the colour and re-applying until the perfect shade has developed. No risk leaving with jet-black eyebrows here!

HOW LONG WILL MY TINT LAST ?

Tinting will last anywhere from 2-4 weeks. The length of time that your tinting will last depends on your lifestyle, skin care products, and skin type. The more often you wash your face, the faster the tinting can fade. Other things like sun exposure and harsh skincare products also reduce the time that your tint can last.

WILL THE TINT PRODUCT TINT MY SKIN OR JUST THE HAIR? DOES IT WORK ON GREY HAIR?

Tinting generally only tints the brow hair, however we are able to leave the tint on longer to tint the underlying skin as well. Note: tint on the skin generally only lasts 1-3 days post-appointment.

The tint will cover grey hairs, but it should be noted that often grey hair is more resistant to tinting than other hair types.

BROW HENNA

WHAT IS BROW HENNA?

Brow Henna is a long lasting brow dye that stays on the skin underneath the brows for a few days (up to 2 weeks) and stays on the hair for 4-6 weeks!

This is a great service for clients who do not have eyebrow hair because it dyes the skin on your brow bone and the hair on your brows.

Clients will achieve a more filled in look without having to use makeup or a brow pencil.

BROW LAMINATION

WHAT IS BRO LAMINATION?

Brow Lamination is a semi-permanent treatment that realigns the direction of brow hair and creates an instant look of added volume, fullness and fluffiness! Lasting 3-5 weeks, Brow Lamination is a solution for clients with stubborn hair growth, course unruly brows, or brows that do not stay in place. Paired with an optional Brow Shaping and/or Brow Tint, Brow Lamination can work wonders and eliminate the need for daily maintenance, even for clients with existing Microblading or Micropigmentation.

This treatment is similar to a ‘Lash Lift’, however, Brow Lamination has been specifically formulated to perfectly shape and set brow hair without over processing, and while maintaining a PH level that remains gentle on sensitive facial skin. Approved by Health Canada, this 3-step system lasts until the brow hairs have completed their growth cycle.

WHO IS THE IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR BROW LAMINATION?

  • Anyone looking to improve the overall look of their brow
  • Clients with Sparse Brows
  • Clients who are growing out their brows
  • Clients not ready to commit to Microblading or Micropigmentation
  • Clients with unruly brows
  • Clients with stubborn natural hair growth patterns

WHO CANNOT GET BROW LAMINATION?

Contraindications include:

    • Psoriasis/Eczema
    • Pregnancy/Breastfeeding
    • Recent Eye Surgery
    • Alopecia
    • Recent Microblading or Micropigmentation (must be healed by 6 weeks)
    • Brow Henna (within 30-days)
    • Sunburn
    • Ultra-Sensitive Skin
    • Pink Eye
    • Scar Tissue in the treatment area
    • Brow Growth Serums
    • Clients with very thick, dense brow hair

All of the contraindications listed above can affect the integrity of the skin. Being that we are applying a chemical to the skin, the skin needs to meet the requirements in order to execute an ideal result with no irritation.

DOES BROW LAMINATION CAUSE DAMAGE TO BROW HAIR?

As the popularity of brow lamination quickly grew, so did the need for specialized brow lamination products. Due to a lack of availability of custom formulated lamination products and the absence of proper training, many artists were resorting to using "lash lift serums" to perm the brow hair.

Although all perms operate using the same basic principles of realigning disulphide bonds, traditional perm and lift formulations vary greatly in terms of ingredients and PH levels. Through research, experimentation and experience with both alkaline and acid formulations along many spectrums of the PH scale, many lash lift serums were much too strong and harsh to be used on delicate brow hair and sensitive facial skin - often resulting in inconsistent strengths, processing times, and even damage to brow hair, irritation on the skin and unsatisfactory results because lash lift products were never meant to be used on brow hair and surrounding sensitive facial skin.

Additionally, it's important to note that using lash lift products on the brow area is considered to be an 'out of box' application, meaning, it is not approved or recommended by respective lash lift manufacturers, making 'out of box' application of lash lift products on the brow hair uninsurable via most insurance providers.

Brow Lamination was created to bridge the gap and provide artists with a specialized brow lamination system complete with customized ingredients and strengths which have been specifically formulated and balanced for use on brow hair. The formula is designed to perfectly shape and set brow hair without over processing, while maintaining a PH level which remains gentle on sensitive facial skin.

WHAT ARE THE AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR BROW LAMINATION?

  • Do not wet your brows for 24-48 hours
  • Avoid touching the brow area to the risk of transferring oils
  • Do not apply makeup to the brows for 24-hours post-treatment
  • Do not apply Retin A, AHA or exfoliate the brow area for 72-hours before or after the treatment
  • Do not use any self-tanning products on the face for at least 48-hours post-treatment
  • Comb the hairs into place each day

MICROSHADING

WHAT IS MICROSHADING?

Microshading uses a manual tool but instead of blades, small bunch type needles are used, this technique leaves small, pin-point dots. MicroShading is the latest semi-permanent makeup technique that gives you a very natural powder filled look, Your brows will look like you just left the makeup artists chair with perfectly arched brows!! This technique helps to close the bridge between your existing brow hair and Microbladed strokes to help give your brows a more dense, full look, especially those missing their brow tails!

MICROBLADING

 WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading is the art of drawing hairlike strokes on the brows using a manual tool with fine blades on it and customized pigments. The epidermis is 'scratched' and pigment is deposited within the first 3 layers of the skin - unlike a tattoo which goes 7 layers deep, the pigments are able break down and partially fade with time. This also allows for more customization and realistic looking brows instead of the one dimensional flat brows you get with traditional tattooing.

WILL IT HURT?

Everyone has different sensitivities as far as discomfort goes, however I have never had anyone tell me to stop. If a tattoo is 10/10, Microblading would, on average, be a 3 or 4 on the discomfort scale. I pre-numb as well as numb throughout the process, I have even had a several clients fall asleep

You can expect to feel a scratching sensation and hear a "velcro" sound that may intensify by the end of the procedure. It is uncomfortable, but by no means unbearable. The sound you will hear is actually a good thing, it lets me know I am at the "sweet spot" and not deep in the skin.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS?

As with any invasive esthetic procedure, the biggest risk is infection. Infection will almost always be the result of improper after care in the first 10 days following the procedure. I use one-time, sterile disposable tools and disinfect and wash everything (including the towels and sheets) after each session.

Sleeping on dirty pillows, picking at the strokes, applying makeup to the area and constantly touching, rubbing or wiping your brows (among other things) can result in an infection, which could lead to scarring and other complications. As long as you follow my after care instructions this risk is nearly eliminated.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

You can expect to be with me for around 2 hours, depending on how long it takes to draw your shape. Shaping takes about an hour, numbing half an hour, and Microblading about 20-30 minutes. If we do combo brows which is a mix of Microblading and Microshading it will take 3-4 hrs.

WHAT IS BROW SHOCK?

So you've gone from no brows to wow brows - and you don't look like you anymore! If you've been looking at your brows in the mirror every day for years and are used to seeing yourself a certain way, suddenly having dark, full brows can be a little...shocking. Compare it to having really long hair and cutting it all off, or bleaching your hair. But don't worry. Give it a few days and the shock will wear off - this is a completely normal reaction. And don't forget, your new brows will soften and shrink within 14 days.

IS ONE SESSION ENOUGH?

No. Microblading is a 2-step layering process. Some strokes will heal out and that is normal, therefore you must come back to complete the process or risk walking around with unfinished work....and neither of us want that.

Sometimes it is necessary to do a 3rd touch up session - this is entirely at the discretion of the client and is only needed if they would like a few strokes here and there to even things out - we do not go over the whole brow again.

HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?

Depending on your skin type, you can expect the look to last anywhere from 6 months to up to 2 years. Remember, this is a semi-permanent procedure. Microblading will fade, but for some of us it will never completely fade away and you may be left with a shadow. It is up to you how long you want to maintain the shape and crispness.

If you have oily skin, the strokes will fade quicker and may take on a more powdered "makeup" look. For this skin type Microshading is highly recommended! It retains better on oily skin than Microblading. If you have dry skin, the strokes will last longer and heal sharper. Both looks are an improvement on patchiness, unevenness and will reduce the amount of time you spend drawing your brows each day.

WHAT ABOUT DOWNTIME AFTERWARDS?

You will notice that your brows may feel sunburned or be a little red after the procedure - this is normal and will fade away within 24 hours. You can carry on your normal activities provided you carefully follow the post-procedure aftercare. It takes up to 14 days for your brows to complete the flakey/fading part of the healing process and a minimum of one-month before you can come back for your touch up. I recommend 6-10 weeks for your 2nd appointment.

HOW MUCH DO THEY FADE AFTER THE INITIAL SESSION?

About 20-30%. They will shrink, become softer and much lighter - this is normal, and the end result is natural looking brows.

WHAT ELSE CAN  CAUSE THEM TO FADE FASTER?

Suntanning, exfoliation, excessive sweating (working out) or improper aftercare. All these things can cause the pigment to fade faster, so if you want your treatment to last longer, take care of your brows as if they were tattoos.
